Halfway through writing an email to the tech at work to get a new password for the studio booking system I walk out of the room for 5 minutes. When I come back in and my email now looks like this:

"Sorry to be a pain, but i've completely lost my mind and balls and chin to holiness and lonliness next to my bedliness. i am now a lady named sadie. sadie sadie the cleaning lady, cleaned my clothes and my woes and everything lefty between ma toes. purple and pink think i stimk of towels and fowls und foulnness caught underneath my nose thanks for the prose ya dirty hose"

Jilli's Birthday

It's my Mum's birthday today. She's in Adelaide at the moment, sounded happy to hear from me. Said that she bought some cowboy boots from a cowboy for which I told her she was insane.

Still, Happy Birthday Jilli.

I've edited out my trip to Hospital today - maybe when I'm feeling better will I publish that one. Needles to say, it was bad.

New work underway...

I've been shooting some video (really LoFi - 10 fps) which I'm thinking about using to make some new work.
I'm quite into it - but I'm not entierly sure if I'll ever unleash it into the public domain.

Question is: looking at the still- is this too same-y or is it worth trooping on?

Friday

Welcoming Rene to the blogsphere - a close friend who shot off to the states last year that is no doubt becoming the artstar that he deserves to be!

Friday night was spent at Campbelltown regional arts gallery for Emily Morandini's Opening where I did a duo with Alex (pictured above). Not a huge turn out- but then again, it is Campbelltown. The guy doing the P.A had the foldbacks blasting us away while front-of-house was next to inaudible. I quite liked some of the sounds that we had going in the piece- however anybody present must have noticed that I finished alot earlier then alex, maybe about 5-10 minutes earlier. Though he did manage restrain himself through most of the piece - proud of you alex!

After the opening on friday night we got put up in some dodgy (they claimed 3 star) motel. Had to run away (and be chased) from a psychotic old man carrying plastic bags and asking to rent Alison and my motel room.

Saturday we had to give a 'master class' at the gallery which was somewhat under attended. I should have just headed home friday night really, but I guess I would have missed all the fun of running away from mad old men with plastic bags.

Blah Blah 'dear diary' blah... I'm bored, blah.
Hmmm, stitches come out tomorow... I'll have my test results back then too. Its as much fun as one can have with pants on.

Thinking about it- I'm going to declare it 'pants optional day' today.
Go on.

I used to make video-art

(Life at a different speed - 2002)

Whatever happened to that??

I think that I pretty much sucked hard at it - I like the still though.

Listening Glass in NY

A work (Listening Glass) which I collaborated with my friend rene is being exhibited in New York in November!
I got an email confirming it two days ago - sorry for keeping it under rapps.

Its a interactive installation with realtime sound video generated by the audio input of a microphone (the one that's being used in NY will be a pre-natal heartbeat monitor). The work is designed to utilise a shop-front window as both the speaker and rear-projection screen. We are using stick-on resonators and drafting film on the glass with a projector situated further behind in the space.

The sound material is granulated audio that is fed in from the mic, while the video (pictured above) is cellular automata which increases in cells/intensity with sound increases (i.e. people walk by etc). I won't go into all the conceptual side here primarily due to lazyness- just think about notions of machine translation of an ordinary street scene, happening in the now.
Blerg! I hate to summarise.

Anyway - its a nice work.

It must be love

(These little babies got a bit attached... they stayed together forever, even as I looked at the in them supermarket they were still in that eternal embrace. I hate the fact that I will be the one to seperate them in the end.)

love, love, love.

Pain kills killers pain

Okay, the pain killers have completely worn off now.
Goddamn they cut a chunk out and I can really feel it. The stitches also feel like they are pulling too much skin. I guess that would be because the skin is hard in the area therefore less flexible.

Discovered a 'macro' option for my new camera. Naturally this means that I will take close ups of gory stuff. It's great how its really hard to see the difference between the stitches and my beard hairs! Incognito.

3 Stitches later

They took me into an operating room and punched out several chunks of my afflicted area for biopsy. I have 3 stitches there now. The local anasthetic did not go deep enough - it fucking hurt. I'm glad there wasn't any scalpels though.

I've just walked home with a bloody dripping wound.

Results are due in next monday.

Pelt in the SMH

Someone told me that the exhibition at pelt was in the Sydney Morning Herald on saturday.

I haven't seen it, so if anybody has a copy - I'd love to have a look.

Yes, I'll admit it is a bit narcissistic...

Bad moods make Jasper rude

Yes, I'm sorry for my frequent use of the phrase 'fuck you' on this blog.
Its a simple enough formula: bad mood + Jasper= rude bastard.

Incidentally, I'm just cruzing through tracks to include on the listening CD for my students and I'm finding myself pretty drawn to BIOsphere really cheesy but warm soundscapes. nice.

I'm okay, you're okay

Yes, I'm okay... I wish you would leave a name or at least an alias.

Going for a biopsy on Monday morning (8:30am you motherfuckers) - which is basically where they cut a segment out of my chin out and run tests on it.

You know, I never imagined that I would have spent so much time in hospital over 2004/5... Its strange how one minute you are immortal and reckless - then suddenly you have to sit endlessly in white corridors illuminated by neon waiting for the pain. Really bored of it now.

Fuck you all... good night.

15 doctors

Would you believe that I have seen 15 doctors today???
My disease is so rare that they lined up a bunch of doctors to look at my symptoms and discuss what is the best course of action for this affliction. There is talk of experimental drugs and light therapy. They will contact me when they finish their mini-conference. I have never felt like such a freak show before - and this is coming from a man who used to be heavily pierced.

I was going to include another picture of hospital, instead I decided to go with one that better reflects my current mood...

The parents return

My parents are returning to Australia after living in Bangkok and Singapore for years. Taify (dad) flew in last Friday and I went to dinner with him on Saturday night to catch up. I'm not exactly sure when Jilli (mum) is returning but it should be in the next couple of days.
What does one do with parents living in the same country? will it be sunday roasts and using their washing machine?
The whole thing is weirding me out a bit. I was so used to being the only member of my family in Sydney...

Edge of the abyss

" The episode illustrates that when the normal day-to-day activity of society disintegrates, the collapse of civilisation is only a few paces behind. We all walk on the edge of the abyss. "
